Sorry for my lack of posts this week, been so incredibly busy! The season of dress hunting has begun so it would seem, for leavers balls, prom, weddings and birthdays. I don’t know about you but I have really struggled to find my dream dress for my leavers ball, everything is either too expensive, in the wrong colour or shape. If your experiencing the same problem I hope this Dream Dress Guide may help.
Firstly, I like to gather inspiration form magazines/blogs/fashion collections where I have seen editorials or spreads publicising dresses that I may find similarly on the high street. Maybe take a look at red carpet successes AND the failures to get a critical opinion. If you want to look on trend for this summer, consider colour palettes such as monochrome or alternatively there is always yellow and the annual bright hues. The most important thing when gathering inspiration is not to forget that a dress style you see on a celebrity will not always look the same on someone else!
Think about what styles suit your body shape and colouring. What fabric would you like? Chiffon is gorgeous, especially in the summer and Jersey or other stretch materials are going to give you a bit more freedom. Satin or silks are lovely for the evening but you must consider the fabric’s lustre (shine) in pictures and against the skin. Do you want sequins, beading or similar embellishments? Consider that embellishments, along with patterned dresses, are going to be less timeless – meaning you may get bored of it easily. This is something personally I am avoiding. I want a simple design and style that will remain timeless and I can wear over and over without getting board. If you are on a tight budget which I know I am, consider finding a dress that you could also wear for autumn/winter parties, as this will save buying another dress next season.
I know it is really hard to find some decent dress companies out there, but here are few that might help for a high to low budget.
